BRENT GILCHRIST

Known for his exceptional teamwork and leadership, Brent joined Deans Knight in 2024 as CEO, bringing extensive experience in mine finance and investment. He is also President of JDS Resources, the private equity arm of the JDS Group of Companies, where he oversees acquisitions and project financing.

Brent joined JDS Resources in 2012, working closely with founder Jeff Stibbard. Together, they co-founded and led JDS Silver Inc., successfully developing, building, and operating the Silvertip Mine in Northern British Columbia, which was sold to Coeur Mining in 2017. They also co-founded CanMag Industries, which constructed and operated a magnetite production plant sold to the Mount Polley Mine Corporation in 2023.

Before his resource finance career, Brent was a licensed Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities and played 15 seasons in the NHL, winning the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings in 1998.

DILLON CAMERON

Dillon Cameron has been a cornerstone of Deans Knight since joining the firm in 2000. As President and portfolio manager responsible for the Deans Knight Income strategies, Dillon has been instrumental in driving the firm’s success and reputation for excellence.

Dillon focuses on identifying high-quality, often overlooked but fundamentally sound businesses that pay a high coupon. His approach has proven resilient and successful. This steadfast dedication has earned Deans Knight recognition and third-party awards directly related to the strategies under Dillon’s management.

KELSEY DUNWOODIE

Kelsey has been a key member of the team since joining Deans Knight in 2010. Her CPA designation and extensive experience in financial management have been instrumental to her role at Deans Knight.

As a Portfolio Manager, she has worked alongside Founder Wayne Deans for over a decade, keenly absorbing the Deans Knight philosophy and deploying the investment discipline for our clientele. She is focused on our equity portfolios with Wayne and she is responsible for the DK JDS Resource Strategy.

Serving as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2016, Kelsey’s leadership continues to uphold our 30-year legacy of excellence and client care.

WAYNE DEANS

Wayne co-founded Deans Knight with partner Doug Knight in Vancouver in 1992 in a small office with a table, two chairs, and only conviction and optimism to fill it.

Their goal was straightforward; to be the type of manager they would hire for their own families. Thirty years later, Wayne has delivered that goal and maintained the spirit and ethos of doing things differently.

The accumulated wisdom of his years at the leading edge of the investment business shapes the investment philosophy of Deans Knight. Wayne generously shares his lessons learned for the development of the next generation of Deans Knight partners and through his role as a mentor for the prestigious Portfolio Management Program at the University of British Columbia, which he helped establish in 1987.

Wayne keeps an active involvement in the company as an advisor, ambassador, and Portfolio Manager on the equity strategy.
